We will enhance the quality of education, promote student engagement, support sustainability and ensure student health and wellness. Promoting Student Engagement - GREEK OUT! - connecting Greek Communities to general UCLA students - Increase access to music, art, and dance classes to non-majors - UCLA Wiki connection - an open source space for student resources and ideas - UCLAradio.com and DBtv broadcasted throughout UCLA Improving the Quality of Education: - Fund and Provide Textbook Scholarships - Diversity Requirement - to replace missing GE requirement for undergrads - Advocate for "Simplifying the FAFSA" Campaign - State of the University Address - quarterly campus reports on the state of our education Expanding and Promoting Sustainability - RIC: Responsible Investment Coalition - Greener and Socially Responsible UCLA Investing - Campus Recycling and Sustainable Packaging for UCLA eateries/stores - Build affordable green housing for off-campus students - Ensuring sustainable programming (large scale events: JazzReggae & Bruin Bash) Student Health & Wellness - Dead Week - mirroring 10th week to zero week - Improve student safety - increasing blue lights, CSO hours, and Westwood lighting. - Be Healthy, Eat Healthy - Nutrition Charts at UCLA eateries - Alternative medicine - Yoga, Acupuncture, etc. RECENT COLLECTIVE SF! VICTORIES:- Advocated for UCLA Holistic Review Admissions Process: "You're Not Just a Number"- Created, Initiated, and Facilitated the COALITION FOR PEACE with over 30 sponsoring student organizations - 25 cent student fares on the Santa Monica Big Blue Bus Line - Ensured Student Representation on UC system-wide committees, UC Diversity Study - 2006-2007 Fee Freeze SAVED $500 per student and INCREASED Financial Aid - Brought big name speakers & artists to campus: Common, Amiri Baraka, Cindy Sheehan, Sigur Ros, India.Arie, Jill Scott, Lupe Fiasco, T.I., The Roots, Immortal Technique, Stephen Marley - Created, Developed, and Greened the LARGEST student run event in the NATION: JazzReggae Festival - Created Communal Office Space open for all student groups on campus - Created Gender Neutral Restrooms - Supported UC Divestment from Sudan, Save Darfur Campaign - Initiated the Book Lending Program to make college more affordable - Set the groundwork for Undergraduate Student Initiated Education |
